Joe began his career in 1979 as a tour director escorting busloads of beautiful, blue-haired, bingo card-carrying women (and a few men) on motorcoach and jet tours throughout North America. From 1980-1995, he held a variety of management and senior executive positions with National Tour Operators and major industry wholesalers on both the traditional and non-traditional sides of the industry distribution channels.
In 1996, he founded Opportunities Unlimited, a management consulting and training company, which specializes in tourism, hospitality and service-related industries. He provides management consulting services, custom-designed seminars, results-oriented training programs and keynote addresses.
His areas of specialty include sales development, innovative packaging and experiential product development, destination marketing, strategic planning and experience design.
In 2004, he created the Experience Formula methodology to provide destination marketing organizations and travel suppliers with a process to develop innovative, new experiences. To date, experiential projects have been completed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Dutchess County, New York; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota, The Mall of America, Shreveport, Louisiana, Baltimore, MD, Hilton Head, SC., and other destinations.
In addition to his consulting work, Joe is a professional speaker, having earned his CSP(Certified Speaking Professional) designation from the National Speakers Association.
He presents programs annually for National Associations, regional tourism groups, State and Provincial Conferences, Travel Organizations and Convention & Visitors Bureaus throughout North America.
